ARTiculation

Eva, a year 12 History of Art student, gave an excellent talk on William Eggleston’s photography in the regional final of ARTiculation at the Whitechapel Gallery. ARTiculation was established twelve years ago to give young people a forum in which they are able to express their own ideas on art.

Sofia Victorino, the Whitechapel adjudicator, praised Eva for her thought-provoking presentation and for ‘looking at the ceiling’ exercise—something that is not normally acknowledged. Sofia commented that Eva had taken the audience on a brilliant journey and had framed Eggleston’s work in its wider aspect, bringing our attention to the importance of colour and to the artist’s technical processes.

Eva was selected from winning a previous interschool heat with UCS and Highgate on Thursday 5th December, and a year 12 Camden heat in November. Around 4500 young people participated nationally in Articulation this year.

ARTiculation, which is open to any sixth form students studying any subject, is well placed to highlight Higher Education and career opportunities to students. It is also useful preparation for an EPQ, Personal Statements and UCAS application. Articulation is not solely for History of Art students and Mr Aronsohn welcomes speakers from all subject areas in year 12 or 13 in September 2020.
