Geography Students Curate Exhibition at the British Museum

This week a very special exhibition opened at the British Museum. A group of twelve geographers from CSG have been working throughout 2014 with the Keeper of Prints and Drawings to curate an exhibition with a geographical theme. The museum has a collection of more than two million prints dating from the beginning of the fifteenth century up to the present day, the vast majority of which are rarely seen by the public. The students themselves selected the theme "Patterns of Power" and then chose a dozen prints from this archive, considered how they reflected the theme, and wrote information cards for them. The exhibition has just opened in Room 90 of the museum sharing space with the vast Michelangelo cartoon "Epifania" and will run for three months. Please go and visit, it's well worth it. The students have done a fantastic job and had an amazing experience doing it.

Our sincere thanks to Sarah Longair and Hugo Chapman from the British Museum who offered the students this opportunity.

    Science Furniture Auction

Many thanks to the parents, friends and old girls of Camden School for Girls for taking part in the science furniture auction. We raised an impressive total of £3529. This money will go towards buying new equipment for the refurbished A level Laboratory. The laboratory will be officially re-opened on 25 September and will be known as "The Channel Swim Laboratory".

    Examination Results 2013-2014

I am delighted to inform you that the school has achieved an excellent set of A Level and GCSE examination results.  Our students have achieved exceptional grades through extremely hard work and with the dedication and commitment shown by their teachers and from the support of their families.

For a short report on the school’s examination results 2014, please see the school website.  A longer report will be included in next week’s Friday News.

    Parent Governor Vacancy

We currently have a vacancy for a parent governor. For more information go to the Parents section of the website.

    New website

We are delighted that our new website is up and running.  The main reason for the change is to make the website easier to navigate on phones and ipads, but we are also pleased that it is less 'busy' and clearer than the previous version.  We haven't yet transferred everything onto it, but it will soon be complete.  We are very happy to receive your views and feedback on both the content and its user-friendliness.

Changes to the admission process for 2015

We have recently made some changes to our admissions policy and procedures. The banding assessment process will now be before application forms are completed, not afterwards. This means that the dates for the assessment sessions have changed. If you intend to apply to the school for a younger daughter she needs to come along to one of the following sessions:

    ·         Wednesday 24 September at 2:00 pm

    ·         Saturday 27 September at 9:00 am

    ·         Saturday 27 September at 1:00 pm

You can register your intention to attend the sessions on the school’s website, by clicking on the ‘admissions’ section on the main menu. There is a simple online form to fill out and you can select your preferred day. You will be notified of the outcome of the banding assessment in advance of the secondary transfer application deadline on 31 October 2014.

All siblings intending to join the school in September 2015 should attend one of these sessions. If you are applying as a sibling or under the distance criteria, priority is given to those who do attend.

Please do register online as soon as possible. The registration deadline is 23 September 2014.
